What is Palmisty

There is a lot you can tell by looking at someone’s hand. Lines and scars can tell you that the person works with their hand, maybe as a sailor, gardener, or woodworker. If someone has hardened fingertips, chances are that they play string internment.

According to some traditions, the lines on your hand can tell you your past, present, and future

The History of Palmistry -

Known as Palmistry, Chiromancy, or palm reading, is a practice that has been found all over the world in various forms.

“Palm Reading comprises the practice of evaluating a person’s character or future by “reading” the palm of that person’s hand. Various “lines” (“heart line”, “life line”, etc.) and “mounts” (or bumps) (chirognomy), purportedly suggest interpretations by their relative sizes, qualities, and intersections. In some traditions, readers also examine characteristics of the fingers, fingernails, fingerprints and palmar skin patterns (dermatoglyphics) (loosely translated to skin writing), skin texture and color, the shape of the palm, and flexibility of the hand." (The History of Palmistry)

Most scholars believe the practice started in India and from there it spread to China, Egypt, and Europe (Palmistry - An Essential Guide).

There are three schools of Palmistry: Indian, Chinese, and Western Palmistry. Indian Palmistry, also known as Samudrika, helps individuals in tapping into their hidden potential and guiding them toward their goals.

Western Palmists take a more scientific approach. It is divided into two divisions. The first division described as Chirognomy includes a study of consistency, flexibility, and the color of the palms, nails, fingers, thumb, and mounts.

Chinese Palmistry was combined into Chinese Physiognomy, or Face Reading. Chinese Physiognomy covers body reading, appearance reading, voice reading, foot reading, and body movement reading. Those who study Palmistry and Physiognomy are able to understand people’s personalities, character, and potential. Also, they can predict people’s health, marriage, wealth, career, and future. I wonder if the Chinese Zodiac is used as well. In case you didn’t know, the Zodiac is not just the year you were born. It is the month, day, and hour as well.

Does it Work?

Well obesely no. Like I said in my introduction you can guess what a person's career or hobbies are by looking at there hands.

Doctors can observe someone hand and see symptoms or early signs of disease. This article tells about your hands can show signs of health issues.

That is palm reading. Have you have your palms read before? Let me know in the comments.
